Always ask for identification
BsGW never sends an appraiser to residents without notice. That always happens by appointment. In addition, the BsGW appraisers can identify themselves by means of a pass. Always ask for this if someone reports as a BsGW appraiser. The urgent advice is therefore not to let any fake appraiser who reports at your front door, but to call the police (0900-8844)
What does a correct proof of identification look like?
The certificate of identification of the BsGW appraiser contains a personal photo, contains the signature of himself and of the director of BsGW who authorizes him to perform checks. On the reverse there is a reference to the legal text regarding the powers of the appraiser. If in doubt about the authenticity or validity of an identity document, you can request additional personal identification and contact BsGW (088-8420420) or the police.
